First Trinity Church of God in Christ, 800 S. Catalpa St., will celebrate its 55th Homecoming on Feb. 23-25.
At 7 p.m. Feb. 23, the celebration will officially begin with the “Back Home Service.” Former members and guests are expected to share the impact that First Trinity had on their lives, according to a news release.
Performances will be presented by the Dewitt Hill Singers, a group formed many years ago who traveled with the late pastor, Dewitt Hill, as he evangelized across the state and nation.
The former Voices of Praise will unite to share the gospel in song along with the Homecoming 2024 Choir. The guest minister of music and clinician will be Elder Derrick Moore.
At noon Feb. 24, a special Commemorative Brunch is planned to honor the life and legacy of the former pastor, Hill. This year marks the fifth anniversary of his death.

So that a vision of the current pastor, Aaron Withers, to ensure that the impact of Hill is not forgotten, a plaque will be erected on the building to commemorate Hill’s legacy along with the naming of a church segment as the “Dewitt Hill Administrative Wing.”
“I am honored to be the successor of Pastor Hill and to serve First Trinity,” Withers said.
On Feb. 25, Homecoming 2024 will climax during the worship service which will begin at 9:15 a.m. The keynote speaker will be Superintendent J.J. Watson of Northside Church of God in Christ of Fort Smith.
