Fayetteville wins on 2-point conversion in OT

LITTLE ROCK — Austin Allen completed a pass to Tyler Tuck for a game-winning 2-point conversion in the 7A state championship on Saturday, as Fayetteville beat Bentonville 29-28.

The Bulldogs scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to force the overtime period.

Allen completed 27 of 41 pass attempts for 376 yards and four touchdowns. Bentonville’s Dallas Hardison completed 31 of 40 passes for 370 yards and three touchdowns. The teams combined for 89 rushing yards.

Batesville 11

Greenwood finished a perfect 14-0 season on the strength of quarterback Hayden Smith, who completed 17 of 25 passes for 319 yards and six touchdowns. He also ran for 38 yards and a score.

Lake Hamilton 20

The Wildcats won their third straight 6A state title, picking off Wolves quarterback Levi Runyan with less than 10 seconds left in Friday night’s game. Lake Hamilton had driven down to El Dorado’s 11-yard line before the interception.
