Mr. Eddie Lee Chidester was born on April 25, 1946, in Scott, Ark., as the tenth of eleven children born of Willie Lee Chidester and O D Summers Chidester.
Eddie (“Rabbit,” to his siblings) lived most of his life surrounded by family and friends in Sherrill, where he was the center of attention by the Chidester sibling clan of Archie, Joe, Mack, Nat, Sallie, Willie B, Irene, Johnnie Mae, Arlene, Cleo and Prentice.
Eddie attended public school in Scott, Ark. and later public school in Sherrill, Ark. He was vibrant, witty, loved family gatherings and family. He gave each family member nicknames that was unique and used by him only. A few unique names given to nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews are “She She”, “Little Pork”, “My Cutie”, “My Mexican”, “My Bird”, “Pork”, “Deb-bah-lon”, “Blow Fly”, “Beautiful Niece”, “Chief of Staff”, “Gorgeous”, “Rick-u-la Rita”, “Lovely Niece” and “Eric Cane”.
Eddie knew the Lord early in life inspired by spiritual teachings of his mother. He walked by faith and attended St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill, Arkansas under the leadership of Reverend Anderson.
Eddie was preceded in death by his parents Willie Lee and O. D. Chidester; brothers: Archie Lee, Joe Lewis, Mack and Nat Chidester; sisters: Sallie Anderson, Willie B. Murrell, Irene Gurley, Johnnie Mae and Arlene Chidester.
He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory two brothers, Cleo Chidester of Chicago, Ill. and Prentice L (Faye) Chidester of Pine Bluff, Ark. and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, friends and neighbors are among those who will miss him dearly.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Monday, July 6, 2015 at P. K. Miller Mortuary 204 East Second Avenue, Pine Bluff, Ark.
Homegoing services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at True Vine “E” Missionary Baptist Church, 1001 West Second Avenue, Pine Bluff, Ark., Reverend Leon Williams, Sr., Officiating.
