SHERRILL – Funeral services for Eddie L. Adway, 74, of Sherrill, Ark., passed January 16, 2015 at Davis Nursing Home will be held Saturday at 2:30 p.m. at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Sherrill, Ark. with Rev. J.Y. Williams officiating.
He was born July 3, 1940 in Sherrill, Ark. a son of the late Leaon Adway and Myrtle Adway of Sherrill, Ark. He received his education in the Plum Bayou and Sherrill School District. Early in life he confessed a hope in Christ. He was baptised and united with St. John Missionary Baptist Church where he remained a loyal memer until his health failed.
He worked many years as a grocery clerk and ending as a truck driver.
Survivors include his mother, Myrtle Lee Adway of Sherrill, Ark.; one son, Corey Williams of Lexington, Ky.; his ex-wife, Girtha Parker Adway of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Vivian (Johnny) Gorman of Milwaukee, Wis., and Violetta (Desi) Purdy of Sherrill, Ark.; four brothers, Walter (Glenda) Adway of Watson Chapel, Ark., Herman Adway, Leon (Shirley) Adway, Wil (Regina) Adway all of Milwaukee, Wis.; two sisters in law, Bobby Adway of Milwaukee, Wis. and Melon Adway of Pine Bluff; one granddaughter, three aunts, a god-son, JaRay Womack, and a host of nieces, newphews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Forrest Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Pine Bluff.
