District 10 voters have two solid choices

We don’t envy voters who have to decide between Dorothy Hall and incumbent District 10 State Representative Mike Holcomb. They both really impressed us during recent meetings.

That’s why we aren’t making an endorsement in the race. Instead, we will tell you why we think both are qualified candidates for the job.

As a former Jefferson County Judge, Holcomb knows what it’s like to handle budgets and deal with large sums of money. He has also served in the Arkansas House since 2012, having previously beaten Hall for this position.

As Holcomb pointed out to us, having seniority in the Legislature is a big advantage. You get your pick of top committees and have developed important relationships along the way.

That said, Hall, a retired associate director of the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension Service, is well prepared to serve in the Legislature, we feel. Since retirement in 2001, she and her husband and son have reestablished the family farm in Cleveland County (Hall Family Farms) for hay production and beef cattle business. They also operate a residential rental property business.

There is no doubt that both candidates care greatly for the people of District 10, and they want this area to succeed both economically and educationally. So no matter who you vote for in this race, you will be getting a winner.
