Williamson claims Southern Amateur
LITTLE ROCK, Ar – Ivy League star Peter Williamson ran in a 25-foot birdie on the third playoff hole to nudge world No. 1 ranked amateur Bobby Wyatt of Alabama for the 106th Southern Amateur Saturday at Chenal Country Club’s Bearn Den Course.
Williamson was hot on the front to take a 4-stroke advantage, only to see Wyatt fire back with an eagle and two birdies on the next four holes to pull even. Wyatt three-putted for par after reaching the par-5 hole in two and that was the “momentum swing,” said Williamson, a recent Dartmouth grad who won 3 individual Ivy League titles in his collegiate career.
