The Arkansas Department of Correction has announced a partnership with the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation to provide curriculum content and mentorship to participants in the Department’s Think Legacy Reentry Program, a department spokesman said. This evidenced-based program is designed to increase the potential for successful reintegration into the community. Specific support is in the form of the Foundation’s donation of sixty (60) copies of the movie Greater and the book Through the Eyes of a Champion: The Brandon Burlsworth Story.
Marty Burlsworth, Chairman/CEO and Founder of the Foundation said, “Our hope in donating the books and the DVDs to the [Department of Correction] is to make a positive difference in lives by showing how we all have trials but it is our choice how we respond to them. We encourage a philosophy of putting others before ourselves.”
In describing the importance of this partnership, Arkansas Department of Correction Director Wendy Kelley said, “Successful reentry efforts require a change in mindset by participating inmates. As Marty said, the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation is focused on demonstrating how to positively deal with life’s challenges. The Department of Correction looks forward to working with the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation and providing a meaningful opportunity for change to participating inmates.”
Marty Burlsworth will be among the speakers at the Department’s Think Legacy Resource and Reunification Fair at the Wrightsville Unit on Thursday, August 31, 2017.
