Pine Bluff-Jefferson County Economic Opportunities Commission will only accept applications for the crisis portion of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The regular assistance portion under LIHEAP ended as of July 20.
LIHEAP helps people struggling to home energy bills while the crisis portion of LIHEAP assists residents in extreme situations.
To qualify for crisis LIHEAP, residents must have a disconnect notice with a shut-off within seven days of the day they apply for assistance. Applicants must also meet income guidelines. For a household of one, monthly income is $1,354. For each additional person in the household, add $468.
To apply for assistance, applicants will need to visit the EOC office between 8 a.m. and noon weekdays. The household representative should bring a copy of the current utility bill, Social Security numbers, proof-of- income and dates of birth for all household members.
