The Community Empowerment Organization will sponsor a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day Event at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, at Mulberry Grove Baptist Church, Eighth Avenue and Ohio Street.
Pine Bluff Mayor Shirley Washington will be the main speaker and the public is invited to attend.
According to organizer Milton Jenkins, the event will:
• Celebrate King’s birthday and his life of dedicated service to humanity;
• Encourage participants to commit or re-commit their lives to serving the community;
• Kick off the Community Better Crusade for 2017 which will focus on grassroots ways to enhance the community spiritually and socially.
