Black Business Month event set

Rise & Grind, celebrating Black Business Month, will be held from 7:30-10 a.m. Aug. 27 at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff Business Support Incubator, 615 S. Main St.

Participants may stop by for continental breakfast or anytime to network with other entrepreneurs and business owners, according to a flyer.

Arsenal still in ‘Coolest Thing’ contest

The Pine Bluff Arsenal has advanced to the “Featured 4” round of the “Coolest Thing Made in Arkansas” competition for its M18 smoke grenades.

The contest is put on by the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce to promote the most interesting and unique things manufactured in the state, according to the Pine Bluff Regional Chamber of Commerce newsletter.

Generator plans business sessions

The Generator, 435 S. Main St., will host free Build a Business workshops in four sessions, according to a news release.

Workshops will include Preparation at 5:30 p.m. Thursday; Business Model at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 29; Finances at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 5; and Strategy at 9 a.m. Sept. 14. To register or for details, call (479) 443-2700 or visit ar-mbda.org.

DAV sets virtual career fair

Disabled American Veterans and RecruitMilitary® will co-host the National Virtual Career Fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 27. The event is free to veterans, their spouses, active-duty military personnel and members of the National Guard and Reserve.

More than 90 employers will be on-site. Veterans can also utilize career counseling and resume assistance, network with fellow veterans and military personnel, and get support with their Department of Veterans Affairs benefits and claims assistance–all free, according to a news release.
