The Grand Prairie Quilt Society met Aug. 14 at the First Christian Church fellowship hall in Stuttgart, with six members present.

The leader opened the meeting with the Thought for the Day: “Whoever said ‘Less is More’ never had a dessert and she certainly never bought fabric,” according to author Carrie Nelson.

The July minutes and treasurer’s report were given. August Happy Birthday greetings were extended to two members, according to a news release.

In old business:

The Child’s Comfort Quilt finished by a member and designed and sewn by several members was delivered to the young lady who is undergoing treatment.

Two members delivered eight Children’s Comfort quilts to the Department of Human Services.

In new business:

Members discussed taking a field trip to a quilt shop in Little Rock. A member will explore possibilities.

In Show and Share:

A member showed her Charm Pack wall hanging made from the squares she had at the last meeting.

A member displayed a Sewing Ladies themed quilt and a Sewing themed tote bag, as well as a Duck quilt she has donated for the silent auction to defray expenses for the women of the church to attend a retreat.

On the treasure table, a member brought several sturdy storage boxes for the members.

The next meeting will be Sept. 11 at the church.

“Come join us,” a member said.
