ST. ANDREW MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 5810 W. Malcomb St., invites the community to help celebrate the 19th anniversary of the pastor and wife, the Rev. Richard and Dorothy “Dot” Hart, on Sunday. At 11 a.m., the speaker will be the Rev. A. Dale Watkins Sr., associate pastor at St. Andrew. At 3 p.m., the guest speaker will be the Rev. Clarence Holman, pastor of the Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

A PAUL & SILAS WORSHIP SERVICE will be held at 10 p.m. today at Highland Ministries, 1320 S. Peach St. All worshippers, music ministries, prayer warriors and intercessors are urged to attend. Praise and worship will be conducted by Kingdom Generation, according to StuffinTheBluff.com. “The Paul & Silas Service was derived from Acts 16:25-26, of which a portion of the scripture says ‘And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God.'” Highland’s pastor is Christopher Mack. Jenise Todd, a local pastor, is the visionary. Dwayne Baskin is the designated prayer warrior.

NEW JERUSALEM BAPTIST CHURCH, 1317 S. Texas St., will observe Friends and Family Day at 11 a.m. Sunday. All are invited to attend. Joann Johnson is the chairman. The Rev. Marc K. Wilson is the pastor of New Jerusalem.

PILGRIM MISSIONARY BAPTIST CHURCH, 2507 Hill St., will sponsor a community health fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27. The event will include free vaccinations and free screenings for cholesterol, blood pressure and diabetes. “Please come to our community health fair and find out information regarding resources available to you,” a spokesman said. The Rev. Kevin Crumpton is the pastor.

THE D’ANDRE SEALS SUICIDE PREVENTION Outreach Project will host Soul Shop™ for Black Churches from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Pine Bluff Library, 600 S. Main St. Participants can learn how to talk about suicide from a faith perspective. Soul Shop™ for Black Churches is specifically designed for pastors, church staff, faith-based clinicians and other lay leaders in Black and African American churches. Admission is free. Workshop materials and lunch will be provided. Topics will include: The role of societal discrimination in suicide rates among black and brown young people; the prominent role of the church in African American communities and how that can be leveraged toward public health; statistics, trends and rates of suicide among people of color; and challenges of and ideas for engaging issues of mental health and suicide in black churches. THE ENCOUNTER 2 WOMEN’S CONFERENCE, led by Gail Stith, will be held from 9 a.m. to noon April 27 at the Waterfront Building in Regional Park. Outdoor prayer starts at 8:30 a.m. led by Saint Mary Harris. Admission is free. Brunch and lunch will be provided by the Master’s Table. The community is invited to attend, according to StuffinTheBluff.com. The conference will also feature ministers and prayer warriors in a talk show style under the theme “Sisters, Can We Talk About It?” Eva McGee will be the moderator. The main speaker will be Brenda Jefferson. The guest psalmist will be Michelle Johnson. Featured speakers and topics include: Saint Mary Harris — “Hearing the Voice of God Through Prayer”; Valerie Rasberry — “This is My Story”; Dorothy Highsmith — “End Times” (Judgement Begins in the House of God); Jeanette Hence — “What Do You Do When Your Current Situation Contradicts the Promise?”; Angela Braggs — “Unapologetically Prophetic”; Barbara Deloney — “Broken, Not Finished”; and Yulonda James — “Ask Me.” “I just want women to come and be blessed,” Stith said. “I just want to love on the women of God. We need to come together to address any issues that create barriers, conflicts and challenges that separate us. I want us to honor one another more.
