In profound sorrow the professional and courteous staff of the Christian Way Funeral Home sorrowfully announces the earthly departure of Mrs. Carnetta Shelby Gooseberry. Mrs. Gooseberry answered to her name on November 14, 2014 and said “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith, now there is in store for me a crown of righteousness, which the lord the righteous Judge shall give me at that day.”
Mrs. Carnetta Gooseberry was born July 2, 1951 to the late Calbert Shelby Sr. and Virginia Harrell. Survivors include her husband; Troy Gooseberry. Daughters – Nina Danette Williams, Cassie K. Gilley and Pamela Faith Williams. Sons- Larry Leon Williams Jr. Stepchildren – Sonya Gooseberry, Tameka Gooseberry, Jazmine Gooseberry and Letroy Gooseberry. Brothers – Ronald Shelby and Colbert Shelby Jr. Sisters – Kathleen Walters, Carolyn Key and Patrica McGregor. 42 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild.
Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Mt. Pleasant African Methodist Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery by Christian Way Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. The body will lie in state from 12:15 p.m. until service time.
