A member of the Jefferson County sheriff’s office dive team recovered a submerged vehicle from a waterway near the softball complex at Regional Park on Thursday.
The sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division acted on information from another law enforcement agency, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Criminal Investigations Division Commander Lt. Dennis Kendal, a member of the dive team, removed the vehicle from the water, it was reported. Further investigation revealed a 1997 Nissan Altima was the recovered vehicle.
“The vehicle was empty of any persons and investigators will be attempting to locate the registered owner,” the release adds.
