Summit plans Thanksgiving Concert
The Summit Soundz Celebration Band will present a Thanksgiving Concert at 6 p.m. Saturday in the worship center of Summit Baptist Church, 901 Ridgway Road. “It’s always a good time when we can get together to celebrate a true American holiday,” Lewis Hinkle, Summit Soundz director, said in a news release. “The band is ready to play a lot of music that will remind us to have a grateful attitude.” The concert is free and open to the public. FunDay features Heidi Carlsen-Rogers art
Create art with artist Heidi Carlsen-Rogers from 1-3 p.m. Nov. 9, at the Arts & Science Center. The event is part of Second Saturday Family FunDay, and is free and open to the public. Carlsen-Rogers will present an “Art in the Garden” activity using sheets of pastel-colored cardstock as a background and instruct visitors on creating glimmer garden panels using flower line drawings or designing them and artistically arranging bouquets to make art pieces. This event will be in the William H. Kennedy Gallery at the Arts and Science Center, where Carlsen-Rogers’ exhibit “Glimmer” is on display.

Eighth Avenue Missionary Baptist Church, 1200 W. Eighth Ave., will celebrate the 12th anniversary of the pastor and first lady, the Rev. Kirby L. Gulley and Neshia Gulley, at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Corvettes, Veterans Salute set
Jason Irby Innovation Foundation will present Corvettes and Veterans Salute and Ceremony 2024 Nov. 10 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock. Links to discuss diabetes, kidney disease

Ashlynn Ebarb’s senior art thesis exhibition, “Suppression,” is on display in the Glassblock Gallery in the Fred J. Taylor Library and Technology Center at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. The Little Rock VA Regional Office will hold a virtual claims clinic for Arkansas veterans from 4-6 p.m. Nov. 21. The Delta Sigma Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., in conjunction with the Southeast Arkansas Jewel Foundation, will present the Valentine’s Scholarship Fundraiser at 7:06 p.m. Feb. 14 at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. The community is invited to attend the gala which funds thousands of dollars in scholarships for area students. The theme is “All Black Affair.” Tickets are $40 per person.
