Burn ban lifted in Jefferson County

The burn ban that has been in effect in Jefferson County has been lifted, according to the county Office of Emergency Management.

Spokesman Robert White said that rainfall over the weekend helped the situation to the point that the ban could be lifted.

“If we don’t get more rainfall soon, it’s not going to take long to put it (the ban) back into effect,” White said.

White said that even though the ban has been lifted, residents should be careful with burning.

“We’re asking people to continue to very cautious if they’re going to be burning, make sure there are water hoses nearby and stay with the fire,” he said.

“We also appreciate all the people of the county for their patience during the ban,” White said. “They were very cooperative and we’re grateful for that.”
