Beekeeping for beginners: classes set

If the idea of raising bees and harvesting honey in the backyard sounds good, interested people might want to join Extension Apiculturist Jon Zawislak of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture, for classes on beginner beekeeping.

The free classes are scheduled for 6-9 p.m. on Oct. 17 and 14 at Ozarka College at Ash Flat. Classes began Oct. 10.

“Over the whole course, we’ll cover bee health, equipment and everything else you need to know to get started,” Zawislak said.

There’s no cost to attend, but participants must register in advance to ensure enough materials for class members. Details: Sharp County Extension Office, 870-994-7363.
