Mr. Arthur Thomas, Jr., also known as (Peanut and Sam) was the sixth child born to the late Arthur and Florence Thomas on March 1, 1926, in Lampkin, Mississippi. Arthur was the longest survivor of all his brothers and sisters. Arthur was united in holy matrimony to the late Sadie Williams on October 25, 1947. They were married for 62 years. No children to this union were born. Arthur professed his belief in Christ at an early age . After he moved to Pine Bluff, he became a member of the Kings Highway Baptist Church. He was an usher and a member of the Pastors Aid Ministry. He truly loved his pastor. Arthur retired from International Harvester after 33.6 years of service. Mr. Thomas was a client at Davis Life Center. He was crowned Davis Life Care Centers Overall King for 2013. He is survived by one son, Linnie Contrell, one stepson, Enoch (Evelyn) Horton,one granddaughter, Triana Brookshire, and one great granddaughter. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. , Saturday, June 21,2014 at the Kings Highway Baptist Church with the Reverend Walter C. May, Sr., officiating. Interment will be at the Graceland Cemetery. Services entrusted to the P.K. Miller Mortuary. Visitation is Friday, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Mr. Thomas will lie in repose at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
