Applications for the Arkansas Geographical Critical Needs Minority Teacher Scholarship Program are available for the spring 2015 semester for two-year and four-year colleges and universities in Arkansas.
The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff administers the scholarship program that was reauthorized by the 84th General Assembly (Act 1746) to address the shortage of public school teachers in the Delta Region, particularly minority teachers.
The program awards up to $1,500 per academic year for full-time enrollment and up to $750 per academic year for part-time enrollment.
To be eligible, an applicant must: be an African American, Hispanic American, Asian American or Native American; be enrolled in or accepted for enrollment as an undergraduate student at a baccalaureate degree-granting institution of higher education or at an accredited state-supported community college with teacher education as a major.
Applicants must submit an application, along with all official transcripts to the Arkansas Geographical Critical Needs Minority Teacher Scholarship Program, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Mail Slot – 4986, Pine Bluff, AR 71601. The deadline to apply is Oct. 10, 2014.
