Anita Jean Owings, age 89, of Pine Bluff, died Saturday, March 7, 2015.
She was born in Pine Bluff on September 5, 1925 to Levi and Hixie Singleton Harris. She
was reared in Cleveland County and was the youngest of six children.
Anita married Arthur Clifton Scott. They had two children. Arthur died accidentally in
1947. She then married James P. Owings in 1949, and they were married 51 years before
his death.
She became a Christian at a young age, and she and James were faithful members of Pine
Grove Church.
Also predeceasing Mrs. Owings are three sisters, Helen Browning, Iris Mae Strahan, and
Arlena Scott; and two brothers, Howard Harris and Ira Harris.
Anita is survived by her children, Carolyn Scott Lindsey of White Hall; Clifton Scott
(Georganne) of Camden, and Orville Owings of Hensley; eight grandchildren, Clifton
Crosby (Kim) of Sheridan, Tamara Lindsey Works (Jeff) of White Hall, Natalie LindseyMilam
(Gordon) of Austin, Texas, Teresa Scott Moore of Fort Worth, Texas, CarolAnn Scott
Young (Clay) of Newport, Ark., Melissa Scott Bryant (Jeff) of Camden, David Scott of
Camden, and Adam Owings of Hardin; 13 great-grandchildren; and five great-greatgrandchildren.
Graveside services were held on Saturday, March 14, 2015, 12:00 at Memorial Park
Cemetery with Brother Charles Cantwell officiating.
