Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Delta Omega Omega Chapter, will present a forum on Mental Illness and Alzheimer’s Disease Saturday, June 10.
Registration will begin at 9:30 a.m. and the event will begin at 10 a.m. at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, 211 W. Third Ave. The public is invited to this free event.
The first panel discussion on mental illness will feature Bessie Smith Lancelin, director of clinical services at the Southeast Arkansas Behavioral Healthcare, followed by Phyllis A. Wilkins, veteran justice outreach specialist with the Central Arkansas Healthcare System.
The panel on Alzheimer’s Disease and Caregivers will be presented by Tammy Smith, a volunteer educator with the Alzheimer’s Association of Arkansas; Diane Johnson of Diane’s Adult Day Care; and Delta Omega Omega members who will give brief testimonies on family care.
“The panels will give information to raise awareness on mental illness and Alzheimer’s disease,” a spokeswoman said.
