The Arkansas State Highway Commission has authorized a project to make safety improvements to the intersection of Highways 35 and 65 in Chicot County.
Design plans and construction will begin as soon as funds become available. Estimated cost of the project is between $500,000 and $750,000. The improvements are eligible for Federal-aid Safety funds.
The intersection, located east of Dermott, has experienced an increase in the number of vehicle crashes since 2013. At the request of Commissioner Robert S. Moore Jr. of Arkansas City, the AHTD carried out a safety study on the intersection this past summer.
Drivers should exercise caution when approaching and traveling through all highway work zones. Additional travel information can be found at IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com. You can also follow us on Twitter @AHTD.
