The 20th Century Club met Oct. 20 at Grace Episcopal Church. President Linda Minyard called the meeting to order by reading of the collect.
Formalities were followed for the regular business activities. Minyard announced that the Salvation Army Christmas Angel tree will be placed at the Donald W. Reynolds Community Services Center, The Pines mall and at the Salvation Army office.
Hostess Barbara Stone and co-hostess Janette McGrew served a fall decorated cake and other goodies while members visited with each other.
Minyard presented the book review. The book ,”And Ladies of the Club,” was written by Helen Hoover Santmyer, about a group of women in the fictional town of Waynesboro, Ohio, who begin a women’s literary club, which evolves through the years into a significant community service organization in the town.
Santmyer focuses not just on the lives of the women in the club, but also their families, friends, politics and development in their small town and the larger world.
