Bond set in alleged assault

A $10,000 bond was set Thursday for a Pine Bluff man who allegedly pointed a gun at another man on Tuesday.

Pine Bluff District Judge John Kearney set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Dwight White, 63, with aggravated assault.

Pine Bluff Police Detective Ryan Moheb said in a probable cause affidavit that he was in the area of 23rd Avenue and Cherry Street at about 6 p.m. looking for a man who had called and reported that someone had pulled a gun on him.

The alleged victim was located and told Moheb that he was flagged down by White at 24th Avenue and Cherry Street. He told the detective that White pointed a gun at him and demanded that he get out of his vehicle. He said White was upset about a previous incident that had happened between the two of them.

Moheb reported that he located White in front of an apartment at 2401 S. Cherry St., and White was identified by both the alleged victim and by a witness to the incident.

When White was questioned, he allegedly denied the statements of the victim and said the victim started the argument. White also said he thought the alleged victim was going to pull a gun on him but he never saw one.

Moheb also reported that White left the scene and did not call police.

The Public Defender’s Office was appointed to represent White.
