Man on probation arrested after gun found

A $10,000 cash only bond was set Wednesday for a Pine Bluff man who is currently on probation after police found a gun in his pocket.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge LaMarcus Hawkins, 21, with being a felon in possession of a handgun.

According to a probable cause affidavit from Pine Bluff Police Department Detective Steve Rucker, officers were sent to the area of West 11th Avenue and Persimmon Street just after midnight Tuesday to investigate a report of shots fired.

While checking the area, they found two men, one of them a juvenile, who were walking and stopped to check the men.

Rucker said in the affidavit the juvenile was taken home and Hawkins, who was convicted of burglary in 2014, was taken into custody after a records check showed that he had an active arrest warrant and was listed as an absconder.
