Bond set in alleged assault

A $1,500 bond was set Thursday for a man who allegedly tried to run another man off the highway, then got into a fight with the other man when the two pulled into the parking lot of a business.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Jeremy Greenwood, 24, with aggravated assault.

Reading from probable cause affidavit from Pine Bluff Police Department Detective William Freeman, Prosecuting Attorney S. Kyle Hunter said the alleged victim told police he was leaving the Simmons Bank branch on Camden Road when Greenwood tried to run him off the road with his vehicle.

Freeman said in the affidavit that Greenwood yelled at the other man, who pulled into the parking lot of Cycle and Marine Center at Camden Road and Union Street, where the two got into a fight.

When Greenwood was questioned, he denied trying to run the other man off the road, Freeman said in the affidavit.

Greenwood, who said he would hire his own attorney, was ordered to have no contact with the man until the case is settled.
