Julie Lenore Dobbins, age 62, of Pine Bluff, died Friday, June 24, 2016. A lifelong resident of Pine Bluff, Julie was a daughter of the late Roy Heaton Dobbins and Margaret Lou Hugon Dobbins, born on February 15, 1954 at Davis Hospital.
She attended Lakeside Elementary, Woodrow Wilson Junior High, and graduated from Pine Bluff High School in the class of 1972. She continued her studies for two years at the University of Central Arkansas, and then at the University of Arkansas at Monticello where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
Julie was one of the original employees of the Area Health Education Center (AHEC) of UAMS at Pine Bluff, where she had been employed for 38 years. She was the Director of Library Services for AHEC (now UAMS South Central) at the time of her death.
She was a member of Lakeside United Methodist Church, the John McAlmont Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, and a former board member of the Pine Bluff-Jefferson County Historical Museum Auxiliary.
Julie had a wonderful sense of humor and a dry wit. She loved her “critters” and had a rare ability to communicate with her four-legged family members. She sincerely enjoyed her friends and co-workers, and deeply appreciated UAMS South Central director Mr. Mark Deal for his thoughtfulness to her. Julie was a humble person who would be honored and gratified by the number of people who have sent condolences.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an older sister, Martha Dobbins Ross of Monticello.
Survivors include her brother, Bill Dobbins of Pine Bluff; and a niece. Lou Yoder and her husband Nathan Yoder of Little Rock; and other extended relatives.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Friday, July 1, 2016, at Lakeside United Methodist Church with Reverend Steve Wingo officiating. Arrangements are by Fuller Hale-South Funeral Services.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5- 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
