Bond set in alleged assault

A $2,500 bond was set Tuesday for a Pine Bluff woman who allegedly pointed a knife at a man during an altercation Sunday.

Jefferson County District Judge Kim Bridgforth set the bond after ruling prosecutors have probable cause to charge Dornesha Tillman, 25, with aggravated assault.

According to a probable cause affidavit from Detective Cassandra Briggs-McAfee, Tillman was arrested after police were sent to 820 S. Chestnut St. in response to a reported disturbance between a male and female who were arguing.

Police said the male and female each said the other one hit them, and according to the affidavit, children who were present said the woman, later identified as Tillman, pulled a knife on the man.

A witness told police they saw Tillman pull a knife out of a kitchen drawer and point it at the male in a “threatening manner.”

Briggs-McAfee said in the affidavit that when Tillman was interviewed, she allegedly said she did pick up a knife in her own defense, but said that she did not point it at the man.

Tillman was ordered to have no contact with the alleged victim until the case is settled.
