EOC to hand out food commodities

The Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Economic Opportunities Commission will hand out food commodities at 8:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Hestand Stadium. The food will be distributed while supplies last.

Applicants for commodities must meet income eligibility. Eligibility may be determined by the household participating in the food stamp program or the meeting the financial criteria, which compares the household size and income to the state income guidelines of 130 percent poverty level. For a household of one, the monthly income limit is $1,179. For each additional person in the home, add $414.

Applicants should bring a picture ID of the person requesting food, Social Security numbers, and dates of birth for all household members. If picking up for someone else, bring a note from that person with the Social Security number and name of the person picking it up.

EOC is a private, nonprofit organization that operates an extensive range of social programs and services targeting low-income households. The U.S. Department of Agriculture buys the food from the Emergency Food Assistance Program.
