James Johnson


James “Jay” Johnson, 62, of Pine Bluff, passed away Friday, February 5, 2016, at his home. Jay was born September 1, 1953, in Pine Bluff. He was reared by his father, Carol Lyn Johnson and his step-mother, Hattie Jean Owens Johnson. He received his education in Pine Bluff. He joined the United States Marine Corps and served during Vietnam. Jay owned and operated Class A Apparel.

He is survived by his wife, Julee Hakes Johnson (whom he married October 15, 1979, in Las Vegas, Nev.); son, James Randall “Randy” (Emily) Johnson of Pine Bluff; two daughters, Victoria Janine (Matt) Arthurs of Pooler, Ga. and Melissa JoAnn Johnson of Pine Bluff; five grandchildren, James I. Johnson of San Diego, Calif., Morgan Johnson of Pine Bluff, Natalie and Gavin Arthurs of Pooler, Ga. and Garrett Smith of Pine Bluff; two brothers, Jimmy Dean Beard of Kent, Wash. and Grey Mize of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and two sisters, Peggy Ann Hillman of Fayetteville and Kimi Searle of Las Vegas, Nev.

He was preceded in death by his father, stepmother, and mother, Mary Ernestine Brown Johnson, and one brother, Bobby Lyn Johnson.
