James Jones
WOODLAWN -James Harville (Sam) Jones, age 88, of the Woodlawn
community near Rison went home to be with the Lord on Monday,
September 21, 2015. Mr. Jones was born November 19, 1926 in Ashley
County, a son of the late John Britton and Marie Harville Jones.
He was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Jones
served in the United States Army and was a WWII veteran. He also
worked for the International Paper Company where he retired after 36
years of service. Some of his favorite pastimes were building houses,
gardening, fishing, hunting and his all time favorite was being with
his valentine. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his wife of 68
years, Maurice Jones; his parents; John and Marie Jones; two brothers,
Carl Jones, Earl Jones; and sister, Helen Tilbury.
Left to cherish his memory are his three daughters, Jammye Owen (Jim)
of Star City, Tonya Glover (Mike) of Rowell, Teresa Huddleston (Marty)
of Woodlawn; five grandchildren, Patti Hooker, Kelli Lawson, Tasha
Williams, Brittany Moseley, Chelsi Bates; six great-grandchildren,
Colby Woolley, Morgan Woolley, Madison Michels, Reece Michels, Kaylee
Williams, Cody Williams and great-great grandchild, Brody Woolley.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, September 24, 2015 at
Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Woodlawn with Brother Jackie
Richardson and Brother Doney Blackerby officiating. Interment will
follow in Rowell Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Wednesday,
September 23, 2015 at the funeral home. Pallbearers are Colby
Woolley, Charlie Bates, Ricky Williams, Joey Moseley, Joachim Michels,
Reece Michels, George Lawson, Hunter Lawson; honorary pallbearers are
Cody Williams and Brody Woolley.
