Two University of Arkansas at Monticello students will receive grants from Psi Chi, the international honor society of psychology.
The regional travel grants will be used to present research at the 2017 Southwestern Psychological Association Conference at San Antonio, Texas, Friday, March 31, through Sunday, April 2.
Janna Alvarez of Hampton and Jayme Burris of Crosby, Texas, will represent UAM at the conference, presenting a research poster entitled “Differential Effects of Three Different Break Activities on Student Learning.”
The poster illustrates the results of research that investigated the effects of gaming, music and restful conditions on recall after exposure to visual word recognition. The study also explored whether different moods affect recall.
Seungyeon Lee, assistant professor of psychology and the students’ faculty advisor, has been awarded a Psi Chi faculty advisor regional travel grant and will accompany the students to the conference.
