IAm Mentoring Program, a new youth project, will host an interest and parent meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19.
The program is for girls and boys 8-17 years old and was founded by Eriya Hobbs, a Pine Bluff native and sophomore at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff.
The aim of the program is to build responsible, civic-minded community leaders, according to a news release. With opportunities to lead projects that allow them to give back to the community, participants will complete more than 30 hours of community service a semester.
“We help them become well-integrated with society and encourage responsibility amongst themselves, others and their environment, also teaching life skills such as cooking, cleaning, dealing with life issues, working on anger and financial management,” a spokesman said.
