Yellowjackets edge Bulldogs

SHERIDAN — Sheridan did not score a run after the third inning, but was still able to beat White Hall 3-2 in nonconference baseball action Monday.

Tyler Zuber took the loss as he went 1 1/3 innings and gave up four hits, walked two and struck out one.

White Hall was held to two hits as Hunter Hale went 1 for 3 with an RBI and Christopher Bryan was 1 for 2.

White Hall plays at 4 p.m. on Thursday at home against Sylvan Hills.

Watson Chapel was scheduled to play Robinson, but the game was canceled and will not be made up. Robinson had to make up a conference game and played it on Monday.

Dumas won its game against Lake Village Lakeside due to forfeit since Lakeside did not have enough players.

Lake Hamilton 9, Pine Bluff 2

PEARCY — Lake Hamilton scored all of its runs with two outs and beat Pine Bluff on Monday.

Lake Hamilton scored three runs right away in the first inning because of a dropped foul ball. Then it added one run in the second and the third innings and two more runs in the fifth and sixth innings.

Aaron McDonald took the loss for Pine Bluff (4-16, 3-7 in 6A-South) as he went all six innings and gave up eight hits, walked four, hit a batter and struck out three.

Jalen Dabner was 2 for 3 with a run, Karl DeWalt was 1 for 3 with a run and an RBI, Ryan Green had an RBI double and Larry Williams was 1 for 3 for the Zebras. Pine Bluff plays its last home game of the season at 5 p.m. on Wednesday against Texarkana.

Woodlawn 15, Fountain Lake 1

WOODLAWN — Gavin Johnston hit 3 for 4 with a solo home run and batted in four runs to lead the Bears (23-4) past the Cobras in a five-inning game.

Colton Williams and Ryan Dorsett each had two hits, with Dorsett getting two RBIs. Blake Brown and Jacob Richardson each were 1 for 2 with two RBIs.

Trey Hankins held Fountain Lake to its only run in three innings and struck out eight. Dillon Miller struck out three in relief.

Star City 9, DeWitt 2

DeWITT — Austin White gave up six hits and one walk in five innings, helping the Bulldogs (13-8, 8-5 in 8-4A) garner a conference victory over the Dragons.

Hunter Johnson and Slade Hawkins each went 2 for 4 for Star City. Johnson hit a three-run home run.

Bryant 10-2, Monticello 1-0

BRYANT — Bryant won a pair of games over Monticello, 10-2 and 1-0, on Monday.

Bryant benefitted from five errors in the first game as Cameron Smith pitched just one inning in the loss for Monticello (13-10). Cole Connelly, Tucker Ward and Will Naron had the three hits for Monticello.

The second game went five innings and Bryant scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth for the win. Tucker Ward was tagged for the loss and Kane Filley had Monticello’s lone hit.

Monticello plays at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Watson Chapel.

Smackover 4, Fordyce 2

FORDYCE — Smackover grabbed a 3-0 lead and Fordyce could not make up the difference in a 4-2 loss on Monday.

Braden Chambers pitched six innings in the loss for Fordyce (11-6, 3-3 in 8-3A Conference). Dane Kemp had a triple for Fordyce and Austin Hollis added a double.

Fordyce plays at 4:30 p.m. on Friday at home against Drew Central.

SOFTBALL

Watson Chapel 11-4, Woodlawn 0-2

Watson Chapel swept the doubleheader against Woodlawn on Monday.

Maegan Greer started the first game and got the win, and Lexie Downing earned the victory in game No. 2.

Sydney Crossett and Harley Easter paced Watson Chapel’s offense in the first game. Morgan Carter had the game-winning hit in the second game.

Watson Chapel (20-6) plays at 4 p.m. on Thursday at White Hall.

Hamburg 11, McGehee 0

HAMBURG — Hamburg benefitted from four errors in an 11-0, six-inning win over McGehee.

Bailey Lamb took the loss as she gave up four hits and struck out three batters.

Megan Sullivan was 2 for 2, Jessica Harris was 2 for 3 and Preslee Carter and Megan Garner was 1 for 2.

McGehee (5-6 in 8-3A Conference) plays for a shot a conference tournament berth at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday at home against Dumas.

Also in softball Monday, it was: Smackover 12, Fordyce 2; and DeWitt 10, Star City 1.
