The Corpus Christi (Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ) Annual Procession was held June 22 beginning at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 207 E. 16th Ave., and ending at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 412 W. Sixth Ave.
The main celebrants were the Rev. Andreas Kedati of St. Peter’s and the Rev. Joseph Marconi of St. Joseph’s. Garry Boccarossa, a deacon of St. Joseph’s, also assisted, according to a news release from Gretchen Zell. More than 50 individuals participated in the procession by walking or following in vehicles. There were four stations on the route where the procession would stop. Scriptures, prayers and songs were done at each one. Benediction concluded the procession in St. Joseph’s chapel. A reception followed in St. Joseph’s gym.
“A quote of Pope Benedict best explains the purpose of the procession. The procession is a ‘procession of faith by Catholics that Jesus Christ is truly alive and present in the Most Holy Sacrament of the Eucharist; and the procession is a public statement of that belief,'” according to the release.
