Work to require lane closure near White Hall

Improvements to Arkansas 104 will require lane closures in Jefferson County starting Monday, Aug. 24, according to the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department.

Crews will seal Arkansas 104 with Bituminous surface treatment (liquid asphalt and pea gravel.) The closure will occur Monday through Friday, Aug. 24-28, between 7 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., weather permitting.

The work will extend from U.S. 270 to Interstate 530, east of White Hall. This will reduce traffic to one lane within the work zone. Traffic will be controlled using warning signs, flaggers and a pilot vehicle.

Although loose material is swept from the roadway after the treatment is placed, it usually takes from four to eight days from the time the material is placed until the pea gravel is fully bonded to the roadway. Reduced speeds are recommended for two weeks following the work.

Drivers should exercise caution when traveling through all highway work zones. Details: IDriveArkansas.com or ArkansasHighways.com or Twitter @AHTD.
