Woodlawn, Junction City meet in Los Toritos final

STAR CITY — Woodlawn advanced to Monday’s championship game of the Los Toritos Baseball Spring Break Tournament with an 11-2 thumping of Monticello Saturday afternoon.

Woodlawn will square off with Junction City, an 8-2 winner over host Star City, in the title game.

Trey Hankins recorded the win on the mound for Woodlawn (11-1). Hankins went 4 1/3, surrendering two hits, walking two and fanning eight.

The Bears plated four runs in the bottom of the first inning after falling behind 2-0 and added a lone run in the third, two in the fourth and four in the sixth.

Jacob Richardson paced Woodlawn at the plate with a double, single and four RBI. Dillon Miller highlighted the fourth inning with a two-run home run and added a pair of doubles. Hankins tripled and singled and drove in a pair, Daniel Rissinger doubled and drove in a run, Gavin Johnson and Brett Boyd doubled, and Blake Brown singled twice. Ryan Dorsett singled and drove in a run.

Pine Bluff 17, Malvern 4

Pine Bluff (2-6) bounced back from a loss to Monticello Friday night with a 17-4 thumping of Malvern Saturday afternoon.

Ryan Green picked up the win for Pine Bluff with a complete-game three-hitter in the mercy-rule four-inning affair.

Carl Dewalt singled, doubled, tripled and drove in six runs for the Zebras while Paul Dewalt singled, scored twice and drove in three. Jalen Dabner singled and scored twice, Kendrick Bullard singled and scored twice and drove in a run, Larry Williams singled twice and Keifer Beckford singled and drove in one.

Monticello 10, Pine Bluff 3

Monticello broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the fifth, exploding for six runs as the Billies bucked the Zebras in Friday night’s late game.

Williams, who doubled for one of Pine Bluff’s five hits, absorbed the loss for the Z’s.

Paul Dewalt collected three RBI and two hits. Adam Graham and Dabner added a single each.

Pine Bluff will play Stuttgart at 1 p.m. Monday.

Stuttgart 8, DeWitt 2

Stuttgart’s Jon Curtis belted a three-run home run and picked up the complete-game win as Stuttgart eased past DeWitt.

Curtis hit a first-inning homer to help the Ricebirds out to a 6-0 lead and then cruised on the mound with 12 strikeouts and only two walks.

Jacob Clawson doubled twice and drove in a pair and Regan Counce singled and doubled for Stuttgart.
