GURDON — Gavin Johnston and Trey Hankins each went 3 for 4 in helping Woodlawn earn another state tournament berth with an 8-2 victory over Spring Hill on Friday in the 2A South Regional baseball tournament.
Jacob Richardson, Dillon Miller and Blake Brown accounted for two hits apiece for Woodlawn. Miller allowed four hits and struck out seven in 3 2/3 innings pitched for the victory, and Johnston threw four strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.
Woodlawn will take on Junction City at noon today. Junction City beat Dierks 9-3 on Friday.
4A SOUTH REGIONAL
Dumas 3, Malvern 2

STAR CITY — Blake Downen shut down Malvern’s offense for six innings and held off a seventh inning rally as Dumas advanced to state tournament with a 3-2 win on Friday.
Downen started Dumas’ scoring in the fourth inning as he scored on a wild pitch. Later in the inning, Jordan Jones drove in Ryan Miller for a 2-0 lead.
In the fifth inning, Dumas went up 3-0 when Trey Winchester scored on a wild pitch.
Downen breezed through the first six innings until running into trouble in the seventh. With one out, Malvern went on to score two runs before Downen got a fly out to right and then another to centerfield to end the game.
Downen struck out seven batters, gave up just three hits and walked two. Jones went 2 for 2 in the game.
Dumas plays Pulaski Academy in the semifinals at noon today in Star City. Malvern is eliminated.
Pulaski Academy 10,
DeWitt 5
STAR CITY — Pulaski Academy scored seven runs in the first two innings and went on to beat DeWitt 10-5 on Friday.
Pulaski Academy scored two runs in first inning inning and five in the second before DeWitt got on the board. But DeWitt scored five runs in the third inning to make game close again before PA added one more run in the third and scored two insurance runs in the fifth inning.
Blake Wiggins hit a three-run home run in the second and Colin Castleberry added a two-run shot in the second inning for DeWitt.
Dawson Moser and Trenton Taylor each went 3 for 3 with a run scored for DeWitt.
Hamburg 13, De Queen 3
STAR CITY — Hamburg scored a run in every inning and disposed of De Queen 13-3 in five innings to advance to the state tournament.
Hamburg scored four runs in the first, two each in the second and third innings, four in the fourth and one in the fifth inning.
Nate Wooten went 2 for 3 for Hamburg with a two-run home run and Sky Martin scored two runs.
For De Queen, Cole McRae was 2 for 2 with a two-run home run.
Hamburg plays at 2:30 p.m. today against Nashville.
3A Region 4
Prescott 15, Fordyce 1
GENOA — The Curly Wolves run-ruled the Redbugs (12-9), who got two hits from Seth Freer and Austin Hollis. The game went five innings.
Host team Genoa Central beat Rison 13-3, but no statistics were available.

El Dorado 5, Pine Bluff 0
EL DORADO — The Zebras (6-19, 4-10 in 6A-South) were shut out to close their regular season.
Kendrick Bullard and Karl DeWalt laced the only two hits for Pine Bluff. Clay Hendricks struck out eight Zebras and batted 2 for 3 with a home run and a double.
Aaron McDonald allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out one for Pine Bluff.
The Zebras have the sixth seed in the state tournament and will play at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in Mountain Home.
Monticello 4, Searcy 3
SEARCY — The Billies (14-14) stranded seven Lion batters and got two hits each from Will Naron, Cameron Smith and Jordan Hashem to score the victory.
Monticello outhit Searcy 9-6, but left three on base and committed two errors.
The Billies will go into the 5A state tournament on their own field as the fourth seed from the 5A-Southeast Conference and play at noon Thursday.

2A South Regional
Dierks 3, Woodlawn 2
WOODLAWN — Callie Donaldson hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to pull the Bears within a run, but they could not produce any more and fell out of the regional with the loss.
Morgan Brown lined two of Woodlawn’s four hits. She also struck out two Dierks batters.
4A South Regional
Ashdown 6, Star City 1
ASHDOWN — Ashdown had 10 hits to Star City’s five and ended the Lady Dogs’ season with a five-run victory in the 4A South Regional on Friday.
Laurin Pooree struck out one Ashdown batter and walked two in the loss.
BOYS SOCCER
White Hall 6, N. Pulaski 2
WHITE HALL — Cody Jones played outside the goal Friday and scored the Bulldogs’ first two goals, helping the team wrap up their 5A-Southeast Conference championship season.
Jones scored off assists from Kinzie Kight and Tommy Townsend in the third and 19th minutes. Orion Vick dished to Shareif Shelton, who converted a goal from 10 yards out in the 29th, and Townsend scored from the top of the box off a pass from Tyler Maynard in the 35th.
North Pulaski got on the board with a penalty kick after a White Hall handball violation in the 39th. The score stayed 4-1 until the Falcons scored off a breakaway.
Shelton then assisted on White Hall’s next goal by Townsend in the 71st and Erik Hudson diced through four defenders for the first goal of the season.
White Hall (16-3, 7-1 in 5A-Southeast) will play in the state tournament starting at 4 p.m. Thursday at Burns Park in North Little Rock.
