Women’s Running/Walking Training Clinics begin March 6 in Pine Bluff

The Women Run Arkansas Running/Walking Club is hosting the 21st annual “Women Can Run” running and walking clinics March 4 through May 12.

At Pine Bluff, the free clinic will begin Tuesday, March 6. From 6–7 p.m., sessions will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Pine Bluff High School track. (An alternate location will be the amphitheater at Regional Park.)

The 10-week training clinics are for beginners as well as intermediate and advanced runners and walkers and will culminate with a 5K run/walk graduation event Saturday, May 12, at Conway.

By the end of the training clinic, each participant will be able to run, run/walk or walk a 5K (3.1 miles.) Each clinic meets twice a week.

Although the clinic is free, there is a $25 fee for the 5K graduation event. The $25 covers the participant’s entry for the 5K, which will also include a T-Shirt and other items. The funds are also used to help cover the expense of the clinics and the 5K event, plus a portion of every entry is donated to a charitable organization of the club’s choice, according to the release. All clinic directors and leaders volunteer for the 10 week training period.

“Come on and join in the fun with other ladies learning to walk and run. You will make new friends and possibly meet someone to walk and run with on a continuous basis, even after the training period and 5K. This is your opportunity to do something for yourself and start a lifestyle that will benefit you the rest of your life,” the spokesman said.

The Women Run Arkansas Running/Walking Club is a RRCA (Road Runners Club of America) and is dedicated to promoting healthy living among women through running and walking activities.

Participants can pre-register for the clinic at the Women Run Arkansas website, www.womenrunarkansas.net or at the first night of the clinic session. Participants may also contact Sandra Jackson 870-692-5318 or Toni Jasper 870-540-6036.
