Women’s running/walking clinics set

The Women Run Arkansas Running/Walking Club is hosting the 20th annual “Women Can Run” running and walking clinics and locals will participate.

The Pine Bluff clinic will begin Tuesday, March 7. Sessions will be held from 6–7 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday at Pine Bluff High School track (or the alternate location at the Pine Bluff Amphitheater at Regional Park.)

The 10-week training clinics are free, but there is a $25 fee for the 5K graduation event Saturday, May 13, at Conway. The clinics are for beginners, intermediate and advanced runners and walkers. By the end of the training clinic, each participant will be able to run, run/walk or walk a 5K (3.1 miles). Each clinic meets twice a week, according to a press release.

The $25 fee covers the entry for the 5K, which will also include a T-shirt and other items. The funds are also used to help cover the expense of the clinics and the 5K event, plus a portion of every entry is donated to a charitable organization of the club’s choice. All clinic directors and leaders volunteer their time for the training period, according to a press release.

The Women Run Arkansas Running/Walking Club is a Road Runners Club of America club and is dedicated to promoting healthy living among women through running and walking activities, according to a press release.
