Pine Bluff police have yet to identify suspects in connection with an Oct. 17 shooting that left a 19-year-old woman hospitalized.

Officers were sent to the intersection of 26th Avenue and Cherry Street at 10:26 that evening in reference to gunshots in the area. Metropolitan Emergency Communication Association dispatchers advised officer Phillip Meachem the house at 2405 S. Cherry “had been shot up,” according to a police report.

Seven victims were listed in the police report, but only one, Cilicia Jackson, 19, was indicated to have needed medical assistance. The other victims were ages 42, 22, 17, 13, 4 and 1.

Takeyler White, 42, told police someone had shot her 2001 GMC Yukon, according to Meachem’s narrative in the police report.

“I saw that the vehicle had several bullet holes in the back glass window and on the passenger side windows,” he wrote. “I asked Ms. White if anyone else was inside her residence and she said yes. I asked her if everyone was OK and she told me yes. No one inside the residence saw anything; they just heard the gunshots. While we were looking around the front of the residence, someone came out the front door and said someone had been shot inside the residence.”

Meachem added he was directed to a bedroom where he found a female lying on the bed along with a small child. Jackson was discovered with a gunshot wound, and Meachem called first responders.

“The female was responsive, but not able to talk,” Meachem wrote. “She was shaking and trying to move around. I told Cilicia to stay calm and be still and that paramedics were on their way.”

Jackson was sent to Jefferson Regional Medical Center for further treatment and then med-flighted to a Little Rock hospital. Meachem wrote approximately 42 empty shell casings were collected from the scene, both 5.56- and 9mm rounds.

Officer Cameron McKindra noted in his report a witness reported seeing a grayish vehicle traveling north on Cherry Street. The unknown male stated he observed two Black males, one of them with a red shirt, holding guns.

“I attempted to gather more information, but Officer P. Meachem advised via radio that he found a shot victim,” McKindra wrote. “I assisted Officer P. Meachem to provide aid to the victim.”

Detective Keith Banks said no suspects have yet been identified but declined to give any further updates or specifies “due to the nature of the case.”
