A 39-year-old woman was arrested in connection with two bank robberies in Pine Bluff this week.

Pine Bluff Police identified the suspect as Constance Thacker. She is held at the W.C. “Dub” Brassell Detention Center, accused of two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of theft of property.

Police said in a news release Tuesday evening that authorities responded to a robbery at Simmons Bank, 1704 N. University Drive, at about 2:10 p.m. that day. The bank teller reportedly identified the female and told police the suspect handed her a note demanding cash and claiming to have a gun.

“The suspect received an undetermined amount of money before fleeing the scene,” according to police.

Video surveillance from the bank showed the suspect leaving the scene in a tan 2005-08 Chevrolet Cobalt and heading toward Altheimer, according to police. A “Be on the Lookout” alert was issued, and a state trooper located and stopped the vehicle at a four-way stop near Altheimer and contacted Pine Bluff detectives.

The detectives impounded the vehicle and had it towed to the police armory for further investigation. Thacker was taken into custody and transported to the detective’s office for questioning, according to police.

Thacker is believed to be responsible for a robbery at approximately 6:39 p.m. Monday at the Hazel Street Corner Store, 2118 W. 13th Ave., police say, citing further investigation. Police say a Black female matching Thacker’s description handed the cashier a note demanding cash.

“Surveillance footage showed the suspect fleeing in the same vehicle Thacker was driving during her apprehension near Altheimer,” police said.
