Brian Wolf is an artist and graphic designer who lives in North Little Rock. Since 2021, Wolf has been exploring symbolic imagery and abstraction using a variety of media. His primary medium has recently shifted from acrylic painting to drawing, printmaking and sculpture.
“Strange Awakening,” his latest body of work, is the culmination of self-discovery, acceptance and artistic transformation that began in 2023, according to a news release.
“Signs are not always meant to be seen; they can often be felt,” Wolf explained in his artist’s statement. “My work explores how stories are experienced through the interplay of personal symbols. Between mystery and intention is where I want viewers to find their own stories waiting to be told.
“I hope through interacting with my artwork that viewers will walk away with a new understanding of their own inner world. It is through our own strange and different experiences where we find the spark for transformative growth,” he said.
The ARTx3 Campus will host a free public reception for Wolf’s 24-piece exhibition from 5-7 p.m. July 24 in the Loft Gallery at The ARTSpace on Main, 623 S. Main St. “Strange Awakening” will also be on view July 24 through Nov. 15 by appointment. The exhibition is sponsored by the Kline Family Foundation.
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
“We are thrilled to present ‘Strange Awakening,’ an exploration of transformation, mystery and the unexpected,” said Shakeelah Rahmann. ARTx3’s interim curator. “The exhibition also explores how stories are not just told, but are deeply felt. I like how it invites audiences to step beyond the familiar and experience a world where art challenges perception and awakens new perspectives.”
