The Willing Workers of White Hall Extension Homemakers’ Club met at the White Hall Library in April. Some members arrived early for a bracelet workshop led by Jo Ann Carr.
Elizabeth Wall presented the program on “Transfer of Non-Titled Property.” She explained that non-titled property such as family heirlooms, jewelry, furniture, and family photographs, may bring about special concerns when deciding who will inherit these items and how.
She said people need to plan ahead to make sure their non-titled property is distributed the way they want. She gave several suggestions: You can ask friends and family members which items are particularly meaningful to them; you may even want to have a family meeting to discuss distribution of your non-titled property.
Other options she gave: Wills stating who will receive what property after your death; lists of who will receive what, give gifts to individuals or charitable organizations, label items with masking tape to designate who will receive which items, or verbally tell individuals what property you want them to have.
