DaNasia Massey went 6 for 6 at the free-throw line in the fourth quarter and helped host Watson Chapel pull away from Crossett for a 40-29 victory Wednesday in the semifinal round of the District 4A-8 girls basketball tournament.
Raelen Randle and Massey each scored nine points to lead the second-seed Lady Wildcats (12-10), who have earned a meeting against top-seed and No. 2-state ranked Star City (24-3) in Friday’s championship game. Tipoff is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Star City.
BOYS WATSON CHAPEL 46, MONTICELLO 39 (OT)
In Monticello, the Wildcats (11-7) moved within one game of a District 4A-8 championship and will visit 4A No. 1-ranked Magnolia (18-0) at 5:30 p.m. Friday.
Watson Chapel has won nine straight games and matched its win total from the previous two seasons combined.

In Sheridan, Courtney Crutchfield scored 15 points, Armand Buckhanan netted 13, and Pine Bluff (13-3, 11-0 in 5A-South) stayed unbeaten in the conference on the road.
The game was moved from Pine Bluff due to ongoing water pressure issues in the city.
Pine Bluff will visit Hot Springs Lakeside on Friday, with tipoff at 6 p.m.
