The White Hall Bulldogs put forth a dominate performance in a 56-12 routing of the Dumas Bobcats Friday night. The Bulldogs got things going early, catapulting them to their largest margin of victory since 2015.
First-time starting quarterback Ollie Reddick finished the game with three touchdowns. Reddick ran for touchdowns of 50 and 20 yards, and he completed a touchdown pass to Austin Terrell.
Along with Reddick, four other Bulldogs recorded rushing touchdowns. Rod Shelby broke for touchdown runs of 15 and 45 yards. Layen Hartsfield had the longest run of the night that resulted in an 80-yard touchdown. Javin Gulley recorded a 25-yard touchdown run, while Donte Buckner scampered in from four yards out for White Hall’s final score of the night.
Bulldogs’ place kicker C.J. Collins nailed all seven extra points.
White Hall Head Coach Mike Vaughn and his coaching staff knew that this team had more speed than they’ve had in a while.
Independent reporting for Pine Bluff & Jefferson County since 1879.
But, “We had no clue that it would have been like that,” Vaughn said. “We knew they would be good but we have a quarterback that is untested. We had a lot of question marks going in. We played extremely hard and physical. We said all along it had nothing to do with Dumas it was about us. The offensive line was awesome all night and the defensive line dominated. That was a big part of it. Our quarterback Ollie did exactly what he was suppose to do, he grew up last night. It’s all about improving from here.”
Vaughn believes his team is ready to turn the page to their next game against the Crossett Eagles.
“They understand and their goals are high,” Vaughn said of his players. “We have to go all the way down to Crossett next. They run a flex-bone which could give us some problems. How we handle that trip, that’s yet to be seen. As far as preparation goes I believe we’ll really get after this week. I hope the taste of victory is enough to keep them hungry.”
