White Hall Police Chief Mickey Buffkin, Lt. Clayton Cantrell, White Hall Police Officers Association President Brian Hornsby and Secretary of Treasury Christian Carroll recently traveled to Fordyce to present donations to the victims’ families and the officer who was shot in the line of duty June 21.

Fordyce Police Officer James Johnson was among officers who responded to the mass shooting at the Mad Butcher grocery store where four people were killed and nine others injured, according to a previous article in The Commercial.

“It was an absolute honor to speak with all those involved, hearing the stories and witnessing the healing firsthand,” a spokesman said on the city of White Hall’s Facebook page. “Our many thoughts and prayers will continue to be with these families, officers and the entire community that were affected by this senseless tragedy.”

“Our thoughts and prayers go out to our neighbors in Fordyce that have been affected by this terrible act of violence,” a Facebook post said.
