Home & Garden Show set
The Jefferson County Master Gardeners will present Delta Bloooms & Bees, the 2024 Home & Garden Show, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the White Hall Community Center, 9801 Dollarway Road. Admission is free, according to a flier.
Scheduled speakers and topics will include Janet Carson, Gardening in the Natural State; Obadiah Njue, Comparison Planting; and Yong Park, Native Pollinators & Beekeeping.
The event will feature family oriented activities, a plant sale, Kids Zone, Ask the Plant Doctor (with a free diagnosis of plant problems), raffles, and vendors. Details: Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Service, (870) 534-1033 or Master Gardeners.
ASC play includes local cast members

The Arts & Science Center for Southeast Arkansas’ next play, “Puffs,” will include area cast members.
“Puffs” is a comedic spin on the modern classic tale of young wizards. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. April 26-27 and 2 p.m. April 28. The show is in the Catherine M. Bellamy Theater at ASC, 701 S. Main St.
The cast includes Bethany Gere (playing Leanne) of White Hall, Emily Jackson (Hannah) of Redfield, as well as backstage crew member Kayla Earnest of White Hall working with props and costumes.
The cast also features Matthew Nguyen (Wayne Hopkins) of Pine Bluff, Briar Thompson (Oliver Rivers) of Star City, Chyna Sims (Megan Jones) of Crossett, Damir Johnson (Narrator) of Pine Bluff, Arin Bell (J. Finch Fletchey) of Pine Bluff, Crystal Jennings (Sally Perks) of Woodlawn, Emily Burris (Susie Bones) of Little Rock, Raymond Wallace (Cedric) of Pine Bluff, and Matthew Howard (Ernie Mac) of Pine Bluff.
The backstage crew includes Erica Kriner (stage director), Christopher Hale (stagehand), and Pam Holcomb (costumes.) The production is sponsored by Relyance Bank, according to a news release.
Locals win in stock market game
Teams from 22 Arkansas schools and school districts took top honors during the spring 2024 and year-long 2023-24 sessions of The Stock Market Game™, including local participants.
The local first place winners include: Region 6 — Hardin Elementary School (White Hall School District); Region 6 — White Hall Middle School; Region 6 — Rison High School; and Region 2 — Sheridan Intermediate School, according to a news release.
The overall state winners of this investment simulation, facilitated each year by Economics Arkansas, are North Little Rock High School and Pinnacle View Middle School (Little Rock), for the spring and yearlong sessions, respectively.
The Stock Market Game™ challenges students in grades 4-12 to grow a hypothetical $100,000 portfolio. An awards luncheon will be held May 8 at the Clinton Presidential Library and Museum in Little Rock. Details: www.economicsarkansas.org.
