What role do you play?

Editor, The Commercial:

It is obvious that Pine Bluff School District’s Board members do not know or understand their roles as board members.

I have attended several board meetings and I am still waiting to hear something from the members pertaining to educating the students of Pine Bluff’s School District.

This is just a reminder to the board that your role is to make policies … not to run the day-to-day operations of the school.

In the Pine Bluff Commercial editorial section dated December 2, the headline says, “District lacks communication.” My opinion is not only the communication piece … but respect. I have noticed that the board president needs to have a lesson on respect and how to conduct and control a board meeting.

My prayer for the district is that Superintendent Payne continues to do the work that God sent him to do. And, that is to educate our children, because their future is at stake … even though the board has turned its backs on students who are counting on them to make them productive citizens in this ever-changing world. The community seeks your great work!

Also, I want to commend Melba Lee on her February 2 article … I couldn’t have not said it better.
