The White Hall Willing Workers met recently at the White Hall Public Library.
President Cheri Aronowitz welcomed members and a guest and opened the meeting. She read the Thought for the Month: The centerpiece of any dining room is the table. She also read the handy hint: Start by using any items you have for a tablescape. The inspiration for the month was given by Sue Medlock from Hebrews 1:2: He made the world and everything there is.
Roll call was presented to the question: “What is your favorite occasion to decorate your table?”
The program was presented by Marnette Reed on Tablescapes. One of the most important design considerations for a sit-down meal or banquet is tabletop décor. Guests see the table décor throughout the meal, and the tablescape can influence the mood of the attendees. Centerpieces should be attractive and appropriate for the type of function booked. Floral arrangements of cut flowers, potted plants, or foliage combined with candles, lights, and ice carvings are excellent centerpieces – appropriate for any type of food or beverage function. Table linens can range from standard tablecloths to special rental linens. Overlays are round or square tablecloths that are placed on top of the full tablecloth. These can be used for color or fabric contrast.
